Ⅰ類紙箱的物理性能檢測項目主要有內裝物質量、綜合尺寸、瓦楞板更小綜合定量、更小耐破強度、更小戳穿強度、更小邊壓強度。瓦楞紙芯定量不應該小于127g/㎡。雙瓦楞紙箱，楞型應該為A-A型，三瓦楞紙箱楞型應該為C-A-A型或A-A-A型。如果是防水紙箱，則紙板更外層應該涂有防水樹脂的防水紙板。

Ⅱ類紙箱物理性能檢測要求符合GB/T6544 規定的D-1.5以上的雙瓦楞紙板或T-1.2以上的三瓦楞紙板。Ⅱ類紙箱檢測要求比較多，如紙箱的加強材料、尺寸與公差、壓痕、開槽與裁切刀口質量、手挽孔或提手質量、搖蓋質量、釘合質量、粘合質量、抗壓能力、機械沖擊能能、防潮、防火性能等等都需要滿足其規定。
